How does a chocolate fountain work?
A chocolate fountain consists of a tower-like set of tiers. These are circular plates that gently curve downwards and increase in width as they graduate towards the base. A wide, circular basin at the bottom of the tiers holds and collects the chocolate. The melted chocolate should flow over the tiers in a cascading style creating a curtain of chocolate just like a waterfall.
What chocolate do you use?
We use only the best Callebaut Belgium chocolate in our fountains.
How long can I hire the chocolate fountain for?
Normally the hire period is 3 hours but please let us know at the time of booking if you need it for longer. The set up and dismantling of the machine is not included in this time.
What foods can I use to dip in the chocolate fountain?
Popular dips are strawberries, marshmallows, shortbread, varieties of fruit, sweets like jelly babies and lots more. Foods to be avoided are those that may crumble into the chocolate or can slip off the fork or skewer too easily and into the chocolate. We can provide you with a comprehensive list on request. Either call us or complete the enquiry form.
Do I need to provide anything?
All we need from you is a date, venue and time. We will contact your venue regarding the setting up and location of the fountain so you don't have to worry about anything.
How long can a chocolate fountain run for?
It can keep running indefinitely, because the chocolate fountain keeps the melted chocolate at the same temperature the whole time. We will just need to top up the machine with chocolate from time to time.
Can I order dips that are not on the website list?
Yes. It's your special day so we will do our upmost to supply whatever dips you request. Just let us know and we will bring it along.
Can the chocolate fountain be used for outside events?
Yes, just as long as it is kept out of the wind (otherwise there'll be chocolate blown everywhere and over everyone!)
What days of the week can we hire your fountains?
Special discounted rates are available Monday to Thursday depending on the time of the year and distance we have to travel.
Is chocolate suitable for people with nut allergies?
No. Any person with nut allergies should NOT use the chocolate fountain.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes we carry public liability insurance and all our electrical goods are PAT tested. All our operators also must have a food hygiene certificate before they can work on an event.
Is the chocolate gluten-free?
Yes, however, it is possible that some of the dips may contain gluten. Therefore coeliacs should know which to avoid.
Is it possible for us to have kosher chocolate?
Yes, there is kosher chocolate with a kosher certificate to accompany it.
How much space does the chocolate fountain take up
A standard display can take up to 5-6 feet in circumference.
What reassurance do I have on the reliability of the chocolate fountain?
We want to give you the perfect service at all times, so our choice of supplier is very important to us. For this reason we ask all our suppliers to provide copies of their P.A.T. certificates (P.A.T. stands for Portable
Appliance Certificate). Most venues will ask to see proof.
What does a chocolate fountain operator do?
- He or she transports the equipment to your venue and sets it up at your chosen time.
- They melt the chocolate and start the machine.
- They lay out the dips and monitor the fountain at all times.
- They greet guests in a friendly and professional manner throughout.
- They refill the machine with chocolate, replenish the dipping food and keep the display looking fresh and clean.
- They dismantle and take away the machine for cleaning.
Must I have an operator with my hired chocolate fountain?
Yes. We always supply an experienced operator as part of our great service.
